April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born on July 4th April, 1995. When she was in the 7th grade, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion for songwriting. When she was in seventh grade, April began taking piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her interest to write songs. She spent a lot of the time of 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. After that, she started taking trips to write with father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. April started to include other subjects in her book Take My Hand to help those of her peers who struggled with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and works for popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it is not the whole of the picture. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability in her posts on Instagram, however she does not make it the main focus of it. What message does it convey? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we are beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her handicap. She doesn't want to be a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are many aspects to Lockhart. It doesn't impact my everyday life. I do the normal things and have adapted to my disabilities. But, I consider it a very important part of myself. Lockhart has been a great inspiration to her fellow women regarding acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having had periods where she was uncomfortable dressing in certain styles that displayed her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook in awe. Self-love, she says is a process. It's hard to say if you'll ever reach the point of no return. It's a fact that I see with everyone with whatever the source of their anxiety. I believe that it's really essential to surround yourself with people who are able to identify and feel your heart.
